BBC Radio 4 'Today' programme (17th June 2004) featured
independent research carried out by Warranty
Direct. This found franchised labour charges and servicing
costs to be highest in London and the South-East of England.
Franchised Audi labour rates were amongst the five most
expensive rates recorded.

are being charged an average of 44% more for labour at
franchised dealers than five years ago….Customers
are having to pay more and more for the salubrious surroundings
of a franchised operation. The advice is to shop around
- and don't ignore reputable independent garages, national

Changes to European Legislation (Block Exemption Rules)
in 2003 enable you, as a Volkswagen or Audi owner, to
have your car serviced outside the VAG Network, with no
