“The Garage” - Discovery Channel
Posted in Audi, Audi A8, Audi Servicing, Audi Specialist, Follett, St. Albans on 12/21/2006 06:41 pm by FollettmotorsVWAudiBlog
We are asked to offer our opinion for “The Garage”
It seems an apt moment to mention this; given that we have very recently launched our new Blog and also that the current Series is now showing on Discovery Channel.
We were surprised (…but also rather flattered!) to receive a call in late Summer from Endemol (the production company behind Channel 4’s phenomenally successful ‘Big Brother’) asking for our thoughts and experience pertaining to a specific problem on an Audi A8. (*thermostat: episode 1; series 2)
A little background information, in case you are unaware of “The Garage” - the programme is described by its producers as “observational documentary”, although it could be said that this description doesn’t really succeed in conveying the many faceted daily trials and tribulations it seeks to document…..
The programme follows a team of British expat mechanics working in a garage in Marbella, Spain and provides a no-holds barred account of their daily work, both in terms of their interaction with customers as well as their work on a whole host of cars.
To anyone working within the automotive field it provides plenty of recognisable situations…..not least the dreaded phrase “whilst you’re there if you could just have a look at….” but also for a Car Owner; well, perhaps it goes some way to enlighten you as to just how that “small problem” might not be quite as minor and inconsequential as you thought it might be to fix !
Worth watching.

About the Follettmotors.com VW Audi Blog
The Follettmotors.com VW Audi Blog, attached to the main website, is intended to be a useful resource for Volkswagen and Audi Owners.
This will feature pictures of parts taken from work commonly performed during the lifespan of a vehicle (eg, timing belt, brake pads and discs) alongside helpful explanations as to their individual function and the reasons for work needing to be carried out.
The blog will also feature short videoclips we have produced which illustrate examples of frequently performed work, the parts used and our recommendations. These videoclips will also be posted on YouTube alongside of those showing the race car (Felgenhauer Racing) we sponsor.
In time, we hope that this will be a useful resource for VW and Audi owners who might wish to learn more about the work which is regularly performed on their vehicles so that they can approach getting such work done with an
increased level of knowledge and understanding.
