Volkswagen with an ‘E’ not an ‘O’

Interesting to read in Yahoo!’s Buzz log about the top 20 misspelled words used by people when performing a search.
Here they are (correct spelling in brackets):

Although the article doesn’t clarify whether the results are based on Yahoo.com or .co.uk search engine, a number of the search terms above appear to be more US-centric than otherwise (*which might possibly go some way to exonerate UK spelling!) ….but all the same it is ?surprising? to see that the incorrect spelling of Volkswagen comes in at No.9.

By now it’s quite likely that you will have seen the new Skoda Fabia “Car Cake” advert and, like us, perhaps you too wondered “how did they do that?”

Intrigued, we contacted Skoda’s Press Office to find out more…..

Q: Is this for real? Is it really cake ?
A: Yes ! From the sugar-dusted white roof down to the treacle-filled engine, the cake car is as close to the real thing as it’s possible to get with sponge. Legions of the country’s finest chocolatiers, bakers and bricklayers were enlisted to construct the scrumptious Škoda..

Q: What happened with the cake car after the filming of the commercial?
A: Although it was originally envisaged to cut the cake car up and distribute it to local charities, schools and hospitals following filming of the commercial, unfortunately, however, as the car had been under hot studio lights for several days, it was deemed to have posed a potential health and safety risk if eaten.
Some parts were preserved though, such as the marzipan wing-mirrors and chocolate speedometer. The rest of the car was composted and will be used by residents of Clapton, East London, to fertilise their gardens and allotments.

Q: What’s the recipe?
A: To build a cake Fabia you will need:

10kg white chocolate chunks
3kg orange peel strips
12.5kg raspberry jam
100kg wheat flour
100kg caster sugar
50kg icing sugar
20kg glacier cherries
30kg brown almonds
20kg raisins
25kg dried apricot
5kg cocoa powder
180 fresh eggs
90kg brown sugar paste
40kg black sugar paste
50kg white sugar paste
42kg chocolate fudge

If you have managed to read this far, you have succeeded in getting through at least part of what a UK psychologist, Dr Cliff Arnall, has officially designated as the “most depressing day of the year”.

Dr Arnall, who specializes in seasonal disorders at the University of Cardiff, Wales, created a formula (above) that takes into account numerous feelings to devise peoples’ lowest point.

The equation is broken down into seven variables: (W) weather, (D) debt, (d) monthly salary, (T) time since Christmas, (Q) time since failed quit attempt, (M) low motivational levels and (NA) the need to take action.

In which case, perhaps this should be revised to include another automotive related variable:
which might normally be assumed to tip you further over into the abyss.
